Science Pirates
Today the group wasn't as talkative so it was hard extracting information out of them. Because of this, I had them do a more detailed blog, especially about the game testing in the studio. I know quite a few of them had so much more to say but didn't want to tell the developers. In fact as we were coming back, they all had much more to say about playing Science Pirates. Overall, they enjoyed it quite a bit. The biggest complaint I received was not getting to do more. They seemed impressed with the graphics and several noted how cool it was to blow up the monsters.
I also assigned the final project activity today - a powerpoint presentation on a new game concept and character designed to teach 1st and 2nd graders how to spell. The group decided to work as a group and split up responsibilites after coming up with an overall concept. I was impressed with their ideas, once I was able to get it out of them (I had to help lead them through quite a bit). I think it will turn out well and I know they are all articulate and creative, it's just a matter of getting that out of them. Tomorrow we will continue with this project and hopefully wrap it up.
