Comfort Level

This is only our second day, but already I notice a difference in the comfort level of the kids. This is good and bad. It is good because they interact more with both peers and adults. For example today I was both asked for help and invited to play. Yesterday I was not. I also noticed more conversation occuring between the kids. I noticed friendships being built. It is bad because as they feel more comfortable, they began engaging in horseplay, such as jerking hats off other kids' heads. I also noticed more rude comments between opponents during two-player games. There was nothing too bad said - mainly "shut-up". These things were not mean spirited, just typical kid behavior. It did not become a problem, and when asked my an adult to stop the behavior, they did. This is a great group of kids and we are lucky to have them. In a school classroom setting the comfort level doesn't change this quickly. Perhaps it is due to the small group size and freedom of the environment.
